Paseo del Arte
Typically held from January to March, Paseo del Arte is an evening to get out and experience Rio Grande City’s visual arts scene in and around our historic downtown district. Paseo del Arte is presented by the Rio Grande City Public Library. For more information, visit www.rgclibrary.org.
Annual Chili Showdown
Grab your boots and round up the family for Rio Grande City’s Annual Chili Showdown! Cooking teams from around the Rio Grande Valley go head to head and compete for RGC’s Chili Showdown honors. The event features food and craft vendors, bingo, jalapeno-eating contest, free kiddie rides and live music where couples can dance the night away. One of several parades held throughout the year, the Starr County Fair Parade kicks of the Starr County Fair. The parade starts on Britton Avenue and travels east on Main Street. Bring your chairs and arrive early!

Rio Grande City Main Street holds a Memorial Day Observance Ceremony in honor and memory for fallen heroes from Starr County at the Britton Avenue Bandstand in our historic downtown district.
¡viva Mexico!
Traditionally held in September during National Hispanic Heritage Month, Viva Mexico is a celebration of our Hispanic heritage showcasing live music, Mexican cuisine, traditional dance performances, and contests. Halloween on Main
Rio Grande City Main Street invites downtown businesses to be a candy stop for the multitude of trick-or-treaters that visit downtown for a Halloween on Main adventure.
Lighting of the Christmas Tree
Our annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree kicks off the holiday season in Rio Grande City. Festivities include performances from various local school organizations, hot chocolate and cookies, the lighting of the Christmas Tree and a very special visit from Santa Clause.
