The Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Small Business Boost Grant program provides financial assistance to eligible small businesses located within the corporate limits of Rio Grande City. This initiative is designed to support business stability, encourage growth, and strengthen the local economy.

The program offers a one-time grant of $2,500 to qualifying businesses with annual gross profit not exceeding $150,000. Funds may be used for eligible business expenses such as equipment purchases, marketing initiatives, and limited business expansion efforts.

• Support the growth and sustainability of local small businesses

• Encourage capital investment and operational improvements

• Promote job retention and economic development within the community

 

Eligible Uses of Funds Include:

• Purchase of business equipment (e.g., computers, point-of-sale systems, shelving)

• Marketing and advertising initiatives (digital or traditional)

• Supplies to expand customer access (delivery, curbside, shipping)

• Limited interior modifications for health and safety purposes

 

Basic Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Operate a for-profit business within Rio Grande City limits

• Maintain a physical, publicly accessible commercial location

• Generate $150,000 or less in annual gross profit

• Be in good standing with all city permits, taxes, and utilities

• Have been in continuous operation for at least nine (9) months

• Conduct legally compliant business activities

 

How to Apply

Applicants must submit a complete application along with all required documentation to be considered for funding.

• Certificate of Occupancy (or proof of application)

• Texas sales tax documentation (most recent filing)

• Business tax return (2024 or 2025) or supporting financial records

• Proof of payment of City property taxes (2024) or lease agreement

• Workforce or payroll documentation (TWC filing or IRS Form 941)

• Completed W-9 form

 

Application Process:

2. Complete the official grant application form

3. Compile and submit all required supporting documents

4. Await review and notification from the EDC

 

If selected, applicants will be required to:

• Execute a performance agreement

• Complete vendor registration for payment processing
