Gilberto Millan was officially named City Manager of Rio Grande City at the City Commission meeting on September 18, 2024, after serving diligently in an interim role since June.
“We are pleased to name Mr. Gilberto Millan as our city manager officially,” said Mayor Gilberto Falcon. “His extensive experience, dedication to public service, and deep understanding of our city’s needs make him the right choice to continue leading our administration. We’re confident in his ability to guide us as we face new opportunities for growth and development.”
Having started as a Code Enforcement Officer with Rio Grande City in 2005, Millan brings close to twenty years of expertise in city planning and administration to his new position as City Manager. Millan is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Texas-Pan American and holds a Certification in Public Management from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
As interim City Manager, Millan collaborated closely with city officials and departments, supervising various city projects and initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting economic development, and enhancing community services.
Millan will remain responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Rio Grande City in his new position, focusing on advancing existing development projects and working closely with city officials to tackle upcoming growth and obstacles.
