Grab your boots and round up the gang and head over to the 11th Annual Chili Showdown Cook-Off set for Saturday, February 2, 2018 at the Historic Quiosco (Kiosk) in Downtown Rio Grande City. Cooking teams from around the Rio Grande Valley will go head to head and compete for RGC’s Chili Showdown honors.
There is no entry fee for the pan de campo, fajita and bean categories. And for anyone feeling lucky, there is a $50 Jackpot chili (no beans) category.
The event will feature live music from Tejano Knights, Sergio and Roping the Wind, Mario Bros, Lucky Joe, Frutty Villarreal y Los Mavericks and Grupo Pegasso. Children can enjoy free kiddie rides while couples dance the night away underneath the lighted Britton Avenue Quiosco.
If you are a furloughed federal government worker, you are invited for some free BBQ courtesy of the City of Rio Grande City, sponsors and contestants from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm while supplies last. Please present federal government worker ID.
