Rio Grande City earns A+ credit rating from Standard & Poor’s

Rio Grande City is proud to announce that it has received an A+ credit rating from Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings, a leading provider of independent credit ratings. This significant achievement highlights the city’s strong financial management and economic stability, positioning it as a thriving and fiscally responsible community. The A+ credit rating places the city in a favorable position among similarly sized municipalities.


“This A+ rating from S&P is a testament to our commitment to fiscal responsibility and creating a strong economic foundation for our community,” Mayor Gilberto Falcon stated. “It’s a reflection of the hard work of our city staff and the trust our residents place in us to manage their resources wisely.”


This rating positions Rio Grande City to attract new investments, reduce borrowing costs, and pursue ambitious projects that enhance the quality of life for its residents. With this recognition, the city can continue to grow its economy, improve infrastructure,

strengthen public services, and support local businesses and economic development initiatives while maintaining fiscal discipline.
