The Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announces the second round of the Small Business Boost Grant Program, offering a one-time $2,500 grant to 10 eligible small businesses within Rio Grande City. Applications open June 3, 2025, and remain open until all grant spots are filled.

Following the success of the first round, which awarded grants to 10 Rio Grande City small businesses, the EDC is continuing its mission to empower entrepreneurs and strengthen the local economy.

“The Small Business Boost Grant is one of the many ways we’re working to uplift our local entrepreneurs,” said Dalinda Guillen, Rio Grande City EDC Board of Directors President. “This program helps ensure that our smallest businesses have the tools and support they need to grow and thrive.”

One of the first-round recipients, Roberto Garcia, owner of Angry Burgers, shared the impact the grant had on his business:

“The grant helped me upgrade my business's signage. It gave me the push to reach more customers. I’m so thankful the Rio Grande City EDC invests in small businesses like mine.”

The $2,500 grant is intended to assist small businesses with annual revenues under $100,000 in covering essential expenses, including equipment purchases, marketing initiatives, and business expansion. Applicants must be located within the city limits of Rio Grande City, have a valid certificate of occupancy, and be in good standing with all required permits, utilities, sales, and taxes.

For information or to apply, contact the Rio Grande City EDC at 956-487-3476.
