Rio Grande City Holds Strategic Plan Workshops

The Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders and Rural Empowerment Advancement Program, held a public conversation session for the Connected and Growing Rio Grande City Strategic Plan on Saturday, April 21st, at Commissioner’s Chambers in City Hall. The initiative was made possible through support of BBVA Compass.

Since the inception of the Rio 2020 Strategic Plan developed in 1999, many changes have occurred in the community, city and county and the Rio Grande City EDC is revisiting the original plan to review and bring up to date the previous economic development strategies.

The one-day session featured informative workshops and expert guest speakers from various organizations focusing on topics of quality of life, skilled workforce, transportation, and place making. The workshops included presentations, discussions, and an opportunity for public comment. The development of the Strategic Plan will serve as a guide for setting future goals for the continued growth of Rio Grande City.

The public is encouraged to complete an online survey to help Rio Grande City identify and implement ongoing actions relevant to developing jobs and improving the quality of life in Rio Grande City. The survey can be found on the Rio Grande City EDC Facebook page, @rgcedc.org.
