Rio Grande City Main Street continues downtown beautification with the installation of benches at Anniversary Park.
“Along with benches, plans are underway to add new flowers and greenery to the already existing planters,” said Nancy Perez, RGC Main Street Coordinator. “The addition of these features is to enhance the beauty of Rio Grande City’s historic downtown and make the area pedestrian friendly for the community, new businesses and tourists alike.”
Anniversary Park was designated in 2003 to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Rio Grande City’s re-incorporation. This pocket park is located between Main and Mirasoles Streets in the historic downtown district.
The Rio Grande City Main Street Program provides many opportunities to get involved in downtown revitalization efforts. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to visit the Rio Grande City Main Street office at 406 E. Main Street or call (956) 488-0047.
