The Rio Grande City Main Street Program hosted the 2025 Historic Preservation Celebration Dinner on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at La Finca Acaudalada, a beautifully restored historic venue nestled in the heart of downtown Rio Grande City.
Held annually in May to commemorate National Historic Preservation Month, the celebration highlights the importance of preserving the city’s rich architectural and cultural heritage. This year’s event recognized the outstanding efforts of Carolina Pena and Victor Barrera, owners of La Finca Acaudalada, for their dedication to honoring the past while revitalizing a key historic property.
Carolina and Victor were presented with a plaque from the Rio Grande City Main Street Advisory Board in acknowledgment of their extensive renovations and thoughtful upgrades to the building. Their work has not only preserved the historic character of the structure but has also breathed new life downtown.

The evening brought together city leaders, community members, and preservation advocates for a night of recognition, reflection, and appreciation of the efforts that keep Rio Grande City’s historic legacy alive and thriving.
